(Students are bestowed with Awards and Prizes only if they satisfy
the eligibility criteria as are published in the rules and regulation of the Institute.)

B.Tech, B. Arch, Dual Dgree and Integrated M.Sc.


1. INSTITUTE GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS

  1. PRESIDENT OF INDIA GOLD MEDAL
    This gold medal is awarded to the out going B.Tech.(Hons.)/B.Arch.(Hons.) student who is adjudged to be the academically best, securing the highest CGPA at the end of the eighth semester for B.Tech.(Hons.) or the tenth semester for B.Arch.(Hons.) degree among the graduating students of all B.Tech.(Hons.) and B.Arch.(Hons.) courses.
  2. DR. BIDHAN CHANDRA ROY MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL
    This gold medal is awarded to the out going B.Tech.(Hons.)/B.Arch.(Hons.) student who is adjudged to be the best all-rounder (in semester examinations, activities in the Department, Hall of Residence and participation in Gymkhana games & sports) at the end of the eighth semester for B.Tech.(Hons.) or the tenth semester for B.Arch.(Hons.) degree from among the graduating students of all the B.Tech.(Hons.) and B.Arch.(Hons.) courses. The distribution of weightage of different activities for determining the eligibility for the award is as follows :
    (i) Academic record 40%
    (ii) Departmental activities 10%
    (iii) Activities in the Halls of Residences 20%
    (iv)Performance under Technology Students' Gymkhana 30%
  3. PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA GOLD MEDAL
    This Gold medal is awarded to the out going student being adjudged to be the academically best, securing the highest CGPA at the end of the 10th Semester among the graduating students of all Dual Degree and 5-year Integrated M. Sc. courses (admitted through JEE) on the same criterion as is being awarded in the case of existing President of India gold medal.
  4. DR. JNAN CHANDRA GHOSH MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL**
    This Gold medal is awarded to the out going student of Dual Degree and 5-year Integrated M. Sc. courses (admitted through JEE) who is being adjudged to be the best in all round performance, on the same criterion as is being followed in respect of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy Memorial gold medal. The distribution of weightage of different activities for determining the eligibility for the award is as follows
    (i) Academic record 40%
    (ii) Departmental activities 10%
    (iii) Activities in the Halls of Residences 20%
    (iv)Performance under Technology Students' Gymkhana 30%
  5. PROF. J. C. BOSE MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL
    This Gold medal is awarded to the student being adjudged to be the academically best, securing the highest CGPA at the end of the 4th Semester, among the graduating students of all 2-Year M. Sc. course in the Science Departments, on the same criterion as is being followed in respect of existing President of India gold medal.
  6. INSTITUTE SILVER MEDALS
    The silver medal is awarded to the student who secures the highest CGPA at the end of 8th /10th Semester, as the case may be, for B.Tech.(Hons.), B.Arch.(Hons.) and Integrated M.Sc. degrees among the graduating students of each of the B.Tech.(Hons), B. Arch.(Hons) and Integrated M.Sc. courses.
    As long as the Institute provides lateral entry to the Fourth Year class of 5-year Integrated M.Sc. courses, for purpose of award of the medal for that course, the highest average grade point on the basis of the SGPAs of the last four semesters, (i.e., VII, VIII, IX & X semesters) of all students in the class will be the criteria.
    Students of each 2-Year M.Sc. courses, getting highest CGPA at the end of 4th Semester will also be awarded silver medal as is being awarded in the case of existing 5-year Integrated M.Sc. courses.

2. INSTITUTE PROFICIENCY PRIZES


The Institute will award one prize of Rs. 1,000.00, to be called as 'Proficiency in Project Work Prize', for the best Project work in each of the Undergraduate courses, including the Integrated M. Sc. and 2-Year M. Sc. course among all Science Departments. The project works to be considered for these awards are classified and listed below :
  1. Eighth semester B.Tech.(Hons.).
  2. Final year B.Arch.(Hons.) projects.
  3. Final year projects of Integrated M.Sc. degree in all disciplines.
  4. Final year projects of 2-Year M.Sc. degree in all disciplines

3. ENDOWMENT GOLD MEDALS, AWARDS AND PRIZES


M.Tech., MCP, MBM and MMST

  1. Institute Gold Medal
    A gold medal (The Director's Gold Medal) be awarded to the student who is adjudged to be academically best securing the highest CGPA at the end of the fourth semester, among the students completing M.Tech./MCP courses in that year, subject to the condition that all other requirements as mentioned above were fulfilled
  2. Institute Silver Medals
    One Silver Medal shall be awarded every year to the best outgoing postgraduate student (first in order of merit) of each Department/Centre and School provided that the number of students graduating in the session from the Department/Centre or school concerned is not less than 5 and that all other requirements as mentioned under para-10 were fulfilled.
  3. Endowment Gold Medals
    1. Dr. Shanker Dayal Sharma Gold Medal
      The award shall be made every year to a student passing with a post graduate degree of Master of Technology/Master of City Planning, adjudged to be the best in all round performance securing the highest position in the aggregate of the following activities that shall carry weightage as shown against each.

      Departmental activities(conduct, library services, participation in Academic societies, rapport with staff and class mates) 10%
      Activities in the Hall of Residence 10%
      Technology Students' Gymkhana (sports and athletic performance) 20%
    2. Mrs. Shelu Sanyal Memorial Gold Medal
      The award shall be made every year to a student passing out at the end of fourth semester of the MBM programme, adjudged to be the first in order of merit obtaining highest CGPA in academic records
    3. Raghupati Singhania Medal
      The award shall be made every year to the best outgoing student of M.Tech. in Rubber Technology (minimum CGPA=9.00) securing the highest position in the aggregate of the following activities that shall carry weightage as shown against each

  4. Endowment Prizes
    1. Late Jagmohan Singh Memorial Cash prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 2,500.00 to the best outgoing student of Materials Science and Engineering who obtains the highest CGPA at the end of the fourth semester.
    2. INCAB Rubber Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 3,500.00 to the student of M.Tech. course in Rubber Technology securing the highest CGPA (not lower than 9.00) in the course work upto 2nd semester.
    3. PMT Prizes for Reliability Engineering
      Two cash prizes of the value of (a) Rs.2,000.00 and (b) Rs.1,000.00 to the two students obtaining (a) the highest and (b) the second highest CGPA., respectively from among the graduating students of the M.Tech. course in Reliability Engineering in the year.
    4. Greaves Foseco Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 2,500.00 to be awarded to the student of the specialisation Foundry Engineering/Foundry Metallurgy for the M.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical and Materials Engineering whose dissertation/thesis submitted on the basis of work done in the Project Semester is adjudged by the Department to be the best among those of the graduating students of the said specialization.
    5. Modi Rubber Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 3,500.00 to the student of the M.Tech. course in Rubber Technology whose dissertation/thesis submitted on the basis of project work done in the Project Semester is adjudged to be the best from among those of the graduating students of the course in the year.
    6. B. M. Belgaumkar Memorial Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 500.00 to the best graduating M. Tech. student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
    7. Biswanath Chatterjee Memorial Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 600.00 to the best graduating M.Tech. student of the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering.
    8. Prof. D. P. Ghosh Memorial Prize
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 3,000.00 to the best graduating M.Tech. student from amongst the students of the specialization Mechanical Systems Design, Mechanical Handling and Automation and Mechanical System Dynamics and Control whose CGPA is the highest.
    9. Deepesh Narayan - Mira De Prize
      One cash prize of Rs. 2,500.00 to the outgoing M. Tech. student for the best project in Living Organism in the disciplines of Applied Botany, Biotechnology, Agricultural Systems and Management, Aquacultural Engineering, Dairy and Food Engineering, Post Harvest Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
    10. AFST (I) Kharagpur Chapter Anurag Kanti Award
      One cash prize of the value of Rs. 1,000.00 for the best project work done by the out going M. Tech. student in the disciplines offered by the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering.
    11. Keshab K Parhi Endowment Prize
      One cash prize of Rs. 15,000.00 is awarded every year to a student among the 2-year M.Tech. students of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering and Information Technology for the best application oriented/demonstrable project/thesis, displaying the design having innovative ideas with proof of efficiency of a system design through analytical or simulation methods.
    12. Badri Narayan Singh Memorial Prize
      Annual Prize of Rs. 6400/- to be awarded to the best outgoing M.Tech. student (2 Year Course) of Mechanical Engineering Department scoring the highest CGPA at the end of the 4th Semester among all the outgoing M.Tech. students. Effective from the session 2007-2008.
    13. Jagarnath Singh Memorial Prize
      Annual Prize of Rs. 6400/- to be awarded to the best outgoing M.Tech. (HRDM) student of Humanities & Social Sciences Department scoring the highest CGPA at the end of the 4th Semester. Effective from the session 2007-2008.

M.Sc.

1. INSTITUTE GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS

  1. PROF. J. C. BOSE MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL
    This Gold medal is awarded to the student being adjudged to be the academically best, securing the highest CGPA at the end of the 4th Semester, among the graduating students of all 2-Year M. Sc. courses in the Science Departments, on the same criterion as is being followed in respect of existing President of India gold medal.
  2. INSTITUTE SILVER MEDALS
    The silver medal is awarded to the student in each discipline of 2-Year M. Sc. who secures the highest CGPA at the end of 4th Semester, among the graduating students of the batch admitted through JAM.
